I have to say--I'm not sure what the problem is with different publications having different sets of standards. A huge part of the platform is that readers choose the writers and publications they want to follow. They get to choose the content they're interested in. Anyone who wants to follow only Medium-owned publications and the writers who write for them is welcome to.
