I totally get your kitchen writing space! It makes all the sense in the world.
I've changed my writing space a number of times over the past couple of years. Prior to COVID, I was out of the house and had to use my time in coffee shops and on quiet work couches.
Since March, I've changed my writing space three times. As of now, I write at what is otherwise the kitchen/dining room table and happens to be located in the living room. (Weird apartment.) This location is central, gets lots of light from the skylights, gives me a view (far off) through the bedroom window, and allows me to be both near my partner, but also relatively undistracted by him.
You're right. One's writing spot makes a difference!
