I might be American, but I also have Canadian citizenship and could blow this popsicle stand at any time. It's not about that. As you noted, it's about empathy for other people. It's about how many have been hurt in the past for years. It's about wanting a better life for everyone, regardless of what country they're from.
The actions of the U.S. have consequences across the world for lots of individuals. Everyone matters. If we all behaved as though everyone mattered, then the world would be a better place.
