Somebody needed to say it.

At no point did saying affirmations or “I love you” to myself ever do anything but make me feel like I’d “never get there.”

I have my worries, sure, but I’m feeling pretty darn good about myself these days. I got there by living my life, getting through challenges, finding and doing things I enjoy, spending time with people I enjoy, and getting to see myself through the eyes of my friends.

It’s a journey, and journeys are unique. Blowing kisses at yourself in the mirror is not going to work for everyone, and it would be nice if the mainstream love-yourself community acknowledged that a little more.
