I agree 100%. Sometimes, wallowing in the self-pity a bit is a form of self-soothing. Likewise, crying can be very cathartic.
It's one of those "for everything a season" sort of things, I think. We put time into gratitude, we put time into doing things that bring us joy, and we allow ourselves to feel crappy when that's what we need to do.
I'm sorry for your loss and for your grief. It seems those things stay within us for a long time, and sometimes, they beg for extra attention.
